Hair Journey:Product Review

I’ve been wanting to do this for a very long time.Today it must be done.As a natural hair, the journey is normally trial and error and mine is no different. However, mine had been made easy by writing to several natural hair bloggers and wanting to find out how I can build a good regimen. The most helpful have been Kurly Kichana of http://www.kurlykichana.com and Sheila Ndinda of http://www.africantressesandtreats.com.The other issue has been hair products.Natural hair requires steering clear of synthetics the likes of Parabens,Sulphates etc.Thankfully I have managed to get several natural hair product manufacturers in the country.I will share them at the end of this post.

These two are the first ones I’ll review. The cream product is a Shampoo bar from Shea by Asal. Its 100% natural and smells herbal.I noticed that it lathers easily and my hair absolutely loved it!It goes for just 400/= I.e + or -$4.I got it from one of their stockists in Nairobi CBD.Give it a try,I absolutely recommend.
Next to my book is my all time favorite curling gel,Marini Curl Magic Curling Gel.I could go on and on about how amazing it is but let me tell you the basics.
It’s instant,I mean you apply a little on your damp hair and those God given curls bounce! Oh and it smells so amazing you can’t help but love your hair.It goes for 850/=(I don’t know if the price has changed). It’s available in majority of the beauty stores in Nairobi including Healthy U,Sheth Naturals,Chandarana Food plus. The icing on the cake is that it is Kenyan made and 100% natural

That’s one of the ways Marini worked on my hair.Wash and gos haven’t been this easy. These two are among the many I’ll keep on reviewing so keep watching for more.Natural hair journey is one you keep learning every time and will take time.Am still building a good regimen and when am through will sure share.
Please check these natural hair manufacturers on Facebook and Instagram:Marini Naturals,Shea by Asal,Ajani Handmade,Sheth Naturals,Zanzi Naturals.
Share your regimens and reviews with me I’ll be glad to see them.

Blessings to you,

Wambui Muriuki.

Hairline Care

Since I cut my hair I have been extra cautious about hairline, products to use etc.Lately I have been sourcing for good natural hair products to use and am almost there. Can’t wait to start this journey!
Yes am growing my hair again(thanks to my sis who blowdryed it and I saw how long it has grown)I generally avoid braids because they pluck my hair line out as you can see and so this time round I decided to get a good stylist and a protective style.
I advised her to leave my hairline to avoid more damage. So when considering to have a healthy hairline please avoid styles that are tight.Always ask your stylist to leave them out and apply styling gel to keep them neat.Research has it that dabbing a little glycerine on the temples can restore the hair line.I have been trying it and I can see good results.
If the home remedies do not work,I recommend Growth Renew Temple Defence by Profectiv(around Ksh 950 or $9.5).Finally a good diet results into healthy hair.Your comments are always welcome.Happy hair times!

My Hair Journey

My Hair Journey

So two months ago I went for The Big Cut(TBC)….I love it since it gives me a totally new look.Well, the main reason was that I was spending too much on my weak relaxed hair and not getting expected results…Many people think that maintaining short hair is simple and forget that hair needs care short or long.To cut costs,I decided to get an affordable set of hair products for a start to see how it could work for my hair;shampoo, conditioner and treatment(all leave-ins) and sheen.

The hair cair set…I use the conditioner sometimes as a moisturizer. The sheen is a must have and leaves my hair lustrous and soft all day.
I shampoo and condition my hair at least once every week and treat it once a fortnight. The result….

After the big cut, your normal hair care regime shouldn’t stop.It should actually go a notch higher.NB:Dont use the same products repeatedly.
Everyday I put on a confident smile because am an African girl with African hair!

Have a wonderful hair week everyone

Hair and Wet Season

Good morning friends…today I want to talk hair…On these parts of East Africa the rains have set in and as is the norm,we will survive by braiding or weaving our hair. Some of us like me will still keep our natural hair.

Natural hair sisters:Incase you get rained on,please don’t try combing your hair since it’s weakest when wet and it will break.Opt for blowdrying or a drier at the salon.

If you have braids or other hair additions, dry your hair well and you can use you hair spray to keep your hair smelling awesome.

Remember to keep treating your hair regularly for healthier stronger hair!

Have yourselves a happy Thursday
